The fonds also contains photographs depicting views of Manitoba and Ukrainian settlement activity in Manitoba, 1900-1974.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Perepeluk, Wasyl John, 1900-1977 : Wasyl J. Perepuluk, merchant and community leader, was born near Sifton, Manitoba, the son of Ukrainian pioneers. In 1918 he bought a farm in the region but lost it during the Depression, 1935. Soon after, he opened a small grocery store in Rorketon, Manitoba. In 1946 he sold out, moved to Flin Flon where he bought a grocery and meat market and eventually expanded his operations to Thompson and Lynn Lake.
All his life Perepeluk was involved in community affairs and in numerous Ukrainian Canadian religious, cultural and social activities. He was a prominent member of the Ukrainian Greek-Orthodox Church of Canada and of the Ukrainian Self-Reliance League of Canada.
