Included are: correspondence, church orders, minute books; registers of baptism, marriage and burial; news reports of St. John's Evangelical Church, 1853-1975; church books of the Hungarian Lutheran Church of Montreal, 1932-1950. This material is located on microfilm reels M-4625 to M-4627.

St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church (Montreal, Quebec) : St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church was organized in Montreal in 1853 by the Rev. George Werner of the Christian Evangelical Mission for North America, of Langefeld, Eberfeld, Germany. Now a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Eastern Canada, the church has concentrated on serving the German community in the Montreal area.

In addition to providing church services in German, St. John's also has been active in local German secular life, establishing a number of associate organizations, including a Ladies' Aid and Luther League. The records of the Hungarian Lutheran Church, Montreal, were left at St. John's when the activities of the Hungarian Church ceased.
