13 metal templates.Langue du document :anglaisPortée et contenu :Collection consists of correspondence, reports and drawings of Henry Shrapnel detailing the development of the shell which bears his name, as well as his other designs, 1781-1842; the correspondence of his son, Henry Needham Scrope Shrapnel 1846-1892; and the family records of the Shrapnel Family in Canada to 1917.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Shrapnel, Henry (family) : Henry Shrapnel (1761-1842) developed the spherical case shot, better known as 'Shrapnel Shell', as well as other ordnance designs. His son, Henry Needham Scrope Shrapnel (1812-1896) served as a barrack master at Quebec in the 1860's.
