Gray's "Observations upon the Laws & Customs of Canada & the Practice of the Courts of Justice in the Province of Quebec...", 1787; Adam Mabane's speech on the Quebec Act and civil law, 1787; and William Smith's draft act for the administration of justice and regulation of the practice of law, 1787.Provenance :Biographie/Histoire administrative :Gray, Alexander, d. 1790 : Alexander Gray studied law in Scotland and was admitted to the Bar of Quebec in 1783. He served as acting Clerk of the Council in 1786 and as acting Solicitor General.
