We are introduced to Nanook, his wife Nyla, and his family. They prepare for a summer journey to the Revillon Frères trading post and to the fishing grounds. At the post the Inuit trade pelts for food and dry goods. They are introduced to a gramophone. Other sequences show Nanook crossing the ice floe by foot to harpoon fish for his starving band; a group of men stalking and landing a walrus; Nanook and Nyla building an igloo while the children play; Nanook teaching his son to use the bow and arrow; spearing and landing a square-flippered seal; and taking refuge in an abandoned igloo. The film also includes excellent footage of dogsled travel and sled dogs; of Nyla softening Nanook's boots by chewing; and of Nanook paddling his kayak toward and away from shore. <85mn>Personnages :BELCHER ISLANDS~CHILDREN~CLOTHING & DRESS~DOGSLEDDING~DWELLINGS~FISHING~FUR TRADE~HUNTING~ICEBERGS~IGLOOS~INUIT~KAYAKS~NORTHWEST TERRITORIES~SLED DOGS~TRADING POSTS Langue :Silent with English intertitlesRemarques :Détails de l'inventaire : -
