Fonds consists of copies of textual records, ca. 1890-1973, compiled into research files by Dr. S.F. Wise and Douglas Fisher in the preparation of their book: Canada's Sporting Heroes, which was sponsored by Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. Included are alphabetically arranged nominal files on persons elected to the Sports Hall of Fame, and subject files on various sports topics.

Fonds also contains copies of photographs, n.d., that are portraits of Jack Purcell, Earl McCready, and Jack Guest.

Fonds also contains video portraits of the members of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in the following categories: team sports, aquatics, winter sports, all-rounders, equestrian and lifestyle, track and field, and strength and science, 1986.

Canada's Sports Hall of Fame : Canada's Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1955 to honour those Canadians who have contributed significantly to sport in Canada, either through their success on the athletic field or in an organizational capacity.

Housed initially at the old Stanley Barracks in Toronto, it moved into its own building in 1967, built with funds raised by the people of Toronto. It occupied the east wing of the Hall of Fame building, located at the Canadian National Exhibition grounds. Photos and citations of the Honoured Members are displayed along with materials relevant to the history and heritage of sport in Canada.

Canada's Sports Hall of Fame is run by a Board of Governors made up of people active in government and business from across the country. It is funded jointly by the Fitness and Amateur Sport Program of the Department of National Health and Welfare and by the Canadian National Exhibition.
