Ontario Labour Committee for Human Rights : In early 1947 the Toronto Joint Labour Committee to Combat Racial Intolerance was organized by members of the Toronto Labour Council and the Toronto District Trades and Labor Council, aided by the Jewish Labor Committee of Canada. The committee was formed to educate, monitor and intervene in cases of ethnic, religious and racial discrimination. Similar committees were organized in Winnipeg, Windsor, Montreal and Vancouver while both the Canadian Congress of Labour and the Trades and Labor Congress established national committees.

The Toronto committee was involved in lobbying for Ontario's Fair Employment Practices Act of 1951, the Fair Accommodations Act of 1954, and the Ontario Human Rights Code of 1962. In 1954 the committee revised its title to that of the Toronto Joint Labour Committee for Human Rights. With the formation of the Canadian Labour Congress, the committee became the Toronto and District Labour Committee for Human Rights.

In 1957 the Ontario Federation of Labour established the Ontario Labour Committee on Human Rights. As early as 1963 occasional joint meetings were held between the Ontario and Toronto committees, until this became the established practice in 1966. In early 1969 the Toronto committee amalgamated with the Ontario committee.
