This accession consists of a miscellaneous collection of records (roughly 70 boxes), in multiple formats, from Canadian National Railways, ca. 1889-1959.
They fall roughly into the following categories:
1. drawings from the CN Atlantic Region Engineering Department
2. blueprints of bridges and roundhouses and locomotives from the CN and Grand Trunk Engineering Departments
3. Profile plans of branch lines in Western Canada, created by the Saskatchewan Midland Railway, Canadian Northern Railway, Grand Trunk Pacific, and Canadian National Railways, among others.
4. several hundred plans (blueprints, some on linen) created by the Grand Trunk Engineering department ca. 1911-1923 for sidings, buildings, stations, etc. in southern Ontario and Quebec (and approved by the Board of Railway Commissioners)

Boxes 2-4: ca. 286 technical drawings dating from ca. 1899-1983 and show, among other things, various types of locomotives; some on blueprint, dating from ca. 1949-1982, and include drawings relating to a Platform for Toronto Roundhouse, Spadina Wheelshop Extension, and Spadina Roundhouse; technical drawings, dating from ca. 1912-1936, and include erecting cards relating to locomotives built by the Kingston Locomotive works; and details of interior and exterior aspects of sleeping cars, ca. 1950s, by the Pullman Standard Manufacturing Company; drawings and architectural renderings for a proposed Canadian National Railways Stores Building at the Engine and Car Facilities in Brampton, ca. 1926, and the same for another one near the Spadina Roudhouse in Toronto, ca. 1930-31; and drawings relating to bridges, including Stamford Bridge, and a Grand Trunk Railway international bridge over the Niagara River.
Box 12 consists of ca. 100 architectural and technical plans for railway and freight stations (including Stoney Creek and Thorold, Ontario and Gregory, Michigan), sidings, rights of way, interchanges, hydro wires, etc. relating to the Grand Trunk Railway in southern Ontario, Quebec, and also parts of Michigan. These plans are blueprints and were approved by the Board of Railway Commissioners from 1915-1917.
Box 13 consists of ca. 100 architectural and technical plans for railway stations (including Rideau, Cedars, and Port Hope, Ontario), sidings, rights of way, interchanges relating to the Grand Trunk Railway in Ontario and Quebec. There are a few plans for the C. L. O. W, Canadian Northern Ontario, and the Montreal and Southern Counties Railways. These plans are blueprints and were approved by the Board of Railway Commissioners from 1912-1913.
Box 14 consists of ca. 100 architectural and technical plans for railway stations (including Jordan, New Lowell, and Seagrove), engine terminals (vertical and lateral clearances at St. Lambert, Que), sidings, rights of way, interchanges, relating to Grand Trunk Railway in Ontario and Quebec. There are a few plans for the C. L. O. W, Canadian Northern Ontario, and Canadian Pacific Railway. These plans are blueprints and were approved by the Board of Railway Commissioners from 1913.
Box 15 consists of ca. 100 architectural and technical plans for railway stations(including Hawtrey, Ottawa, Holmesville, Clandeyboye, Atherley Junction, Marysville, Beauharnois, Goulds, Fraserville, St. Cyr), express buildings (Paris, Chatham, Hamilton, Bracebridge, Huntsville), sidings, rights of way, interchanges relating to the Grand Trunk Railway in Ontario and Quebec. These plans were approved by the Board of Railway Commissioners 1920-1922.
Box 16 consists of ca. 100 architectural and technical plans for railway stations (St. Gregoire, Que and Wainstead, Kelleys, Wanstead, and Sunnyside, ON), sidings, rights of way, interchanges relating to the Grand Trunk Railway in Ontario and Quebec, and approved by the Board of Railways Commissioners, 1912 and 1922.
Box 17 consists of ca. 100 architectural and technical plans for railway stations, sidings, rights of way, interchanges relating to the Grand Trunk Railway in Ontario and Quebec, and approved by the Board of Railways Commissioners, 1914.
Box 18 consists of ca. 100 architectural and technical plans for railway stations, sidings, rights of way, interchanges relating to the Grand Trunk Railway in Ontario and Quebec, and approved by the Board of Railways Commissioners, 1919.
Box 19 consists of ca. 100 architectural and technical plans for railway stations, sidings, rights of way, interchanges relating to the Grand Trunk Railway in Ontario and Quebec, and approved by the Board of Railways Commissioners, 1919.

Box 39 consists an ledger book, entitled CNR Standard Plans, Index to 1954, and includes list of plans and specs with title Grand Trunk Railway system, from Office of Engineers of Bridges and Track.
Box 40 consists of 19th century profile plans (ca. 1870s-1890s) of railway lines in southern Ontario, created by the Grand Trunk Railway office of the Engineering. Also profile plans of Canada Airline Railway.
Box 43 consists of miscellaneous records, including a portion of CN records classification index cards; Meeting minutes for Place Ville Marie Development by the CN Coordination Committee, and various black and white images of planned third office building at Place Ville Marie (ca. 1960s)
Box 47 consisted of, among other things, a drawing of the main lobby of the Hotel Vancouver.
52 consists of 111 technical drawings, with some architectural plans. Some relate to the expansion or reconstruction of the Stamford International Bridge and the Black Rock Harbour Swing Bridge over the Niagara River, with a date range of 1899-1926. Most relate to details of various buildings or machinery at the Spadina Wheel Shop, Spadina Coach Yard, Stores Building, and Ash Handling Plant in Toronto, ca. 1921-1975. There are also some drawings relating to the Turbotrain facilities at the Spadina Yard, 1966, and also various name plate monogram drawings for Grand Trunk Railway and Canadian National, ca. 1899-1954.
53 consists 70 technical drawings, mostly erecting cards for various aspects of locomotives, passenger cars, dining cars, refrigerator cars, and sleeping cars for CNR and GTR, ca. 1903-1957
54 consists of 125 technical drawings and architectural plans (some copies), most relating to details of Spadina Roundhouse and Engine and Car Facility, Toronto Terminals, 1926. More specifically, 51 blueprints of the Roundhouse (General Plan), Engine and Car Facilities (general plan), Engine Pits, Engine house and drop pits, Machine Shop, Arch Brick and Casting Shop, 100 foot twin span turntable, Stores Building, Wheel Shop, Ash Handling Plant, Concrete Coaling Plant, 150,000 imperial gallon water tank. The box also contains some drawings of interior details of Pullman sleeping cars.
55 consists of 53 technical drawings, mostly relating to the construction of sailing ships or steam ships from ca. 1900-1913. Some of the drawings have the stamp Swan Hunter and Wigham and Richardson; Dundee Shipbuilding Company, and one marked Newfoundland Shipbuilding Company Harbour Grace. There are also drawings of baggage cars, first and second class cars, and erecting cards for various locomotives 1919-1929
Box 56 consists of 9 technical drawings, including erecting cards, and some copies of originals, of various locomotives and sleeping cars, from ca. 1912-1918.
