Collection search - Environmental assessment reports regarding sites transferred to NAV CANADA [textual record]

Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by the Environmental Management Branch of Transport Canada. This collection of records consists entirely of environmental assessment reports about hundreds of sites across Canada related to the Air Navigation System (ANS) previously owned, managed, and operated by Transport Canada. These sites were the subject of ongoing transfers from TC to NAV CANADA around the time the report were created, and the reports therefore would document a component of TC's responsibility to identify and remediate polluted sites to minimize NAV CANADA's burden. The reports reflect a wide range of sites, from a single rented room rented housing a single piece of equipment, to a large site featuring communication towers and other types of navigational equipment. Review of storage facilities for fuel and chemicals appears to have been a particular focus of the reports, most of which were produced by private parties contracted by TC.
