The operational functions of Transport Canada are the responsibility of three transportation administrations: air, marine and surface. Overall direction of the Department, however, resides with an executive secretariat that includes the offices of the Deputy Minister, the Senior Deputy Minister and several Assistant Deputy Ministers. The Executive Secretariat is responsible for a wide range of administrative and policy matters, especially in departmental policy and inter-modal transportation matters.
