Illus: Two decorative cartouches; several species of birds above the globes; human figures below; two globes ll cm. diameter showing the regions about the Arctic and Antarctic circules; two wind cherubs on each side.
This Goos map has been reproduced by: American Heritage "from an original copy in its own collection". The magazine has titled the map: The known Globe and has added the date of 1667. Wagner (N.W. Coast II, p. 315) states that the Zee Atlas in which the map appeared was published in 1666. A Nederlandsch Historisch Sheepvaart Museum (Amsterdam) reproduction also supports the earlier date. 1666 is also the date supplied by the L.C. catalogue.
