Scope and content:

In the vast majority, people or events on the pictures are identified. We can see the inside of their homes, the way they were dress and the combination of traditional and modern clothes and fabrics, and we see them acting in their usual daily activities (skiing, Christmas concert, etc.). Some of these people were also identified in a number of the well-respected The Beaver or in an off-print of the Whitehorse Star (available in the fonds as well).

Custodial history:

All the photographs were shot with a Leica camera by Roy Hall for whom photography was an amateur hobby. All the pictures have been identified in details by Marg Hall during an interview, and based on what is written on every slide. Moreover, some people were identified by the members of the Vuntut Gwichin First Nation of Old Crow during the months of April-June 2008. These supplementary identifications (in parenthesis) appear for slides 64, 71, 75, 76, 82 and 85 of carousel 2, and slides 3, 5 and 6 of carousel 3.

A DVD titled "Roy Hall, Old Crow Yukon", accession no. AC2007-00001 is held at the Canadian Museum of History. The DVD contains TIFF copies of the 255 col. Slides, pictures taken by Roy Hall.
