Scope and content:

The series comprises records of Alika Podolinsky Webber's anthropological research on the Innu (Montagnais and Naskapi) of Labrador and northern Quebec. It includes the manuscript of her PhD thesis, "The Art of the Montagnais-Naskapi"; a draft manuscript of a book based on the thesis; the papers of Richard White, a trader from Voisey's Bay and Kauk, who gathered examples of Innu material culture for anthropologist Frank G. Speck; and the photographs of Judy-Pauline Hunter White, wife of Richard White, which provide a visual record of activities at Voisey's Bay and Kauk, including the visits of Davis Inlet band of the Innu, between 1900 and 1950.
