Collection search - Papal visit records of Airports Group, Edmonton Regional Office [textual record]

This accession consists of records documenting the planning of the Papal Visit to Fort Simpson in 1984 (cancelled due to bad weather) and in 1987 (completed) by Transport Canada officials in Edmonton. The 4 files and 2 binders primarily contain textual planning documents concerning the logistics, itineraries, etc. of the Papal Visits, but also include various colour photographs of facilities and staff at Fort Simpson. Much of this material is classified under Transport Canada's 1679- Visits file block.

These records were forwarded to the Winnipeg Regional Office of Transport Canada from the Edmonton Regional Office, and as the retention periods had expired and the records were identified as archival, were subsequently transferred by the former to the direct custody of the Government Archives Division - Winnipeg office.
