Canada. Comité consultatif national sur l'éducation au développement : En décembre 1988, la société d'experts-conseils Manifest Communications a publié un rapport sur la stratégie d'information de l'Agence canadienne de développement international. Le rapport de la société Manifest recommanda une étude portant sur l'éducation pour le développement, d'où la création d'un Comité consultatif national sur l'éducation au développement, offrant un sol fertile pour que germent de nouvelles approches et orientations plus visionnaires et constructives. Suivant les recommandations du rapport, Monique Landry, ministre des Relations extérieures et du Développement international a formé le Comité en juin 1989.
Le Comité a été établi afin de conseiller le Ministre sur les méthodes les plus efficaces pour que les organismes non gouvernementaux canadiens participent à l'éducation de la population canadienne en ce qui concerne les questions de développement international. Le Comité a limité son travail à des projets d'éducation au développement et des programmes financés par la division chargée du Programme de la participation du public de l'ACDI. Le Comité était également mandaté pour établir un dialogue soutenu et profond avec la collectivité canadienne de l'éducation au développement, pour engendrer un flot d'idées continu et offrir des conseils sur le travail entourant l'éducation au développement financé par l'ACDI et enfin, pour produire un rapport annuel bien fondé sur la situation de l'éducation au développement au Canada.
Le Comité était composé de dix membres, y compris le directeur, Douglas Roche. Les membres du Comité provenaient tous de divers secteurs d'activité de la société canadienne, y compris d'organismes provenant du monde des affaires, du monde universitaire et des organismes de premier plan chargés de l'éducation au développement. La division chargée du Programme de la participation du public de l'ACDI a pris les mesures nécessaires pour assurer le soutien administratif et logistique du Comité.
Le Comité consultatif national sur l'éducation au développement fut aboli dans le budget présenté par le gouvernement fédéral au printemps 1992. D'après les Documents budgétaires, le Comité a présenté plusieurs rapports au Ministre et ses recommandations ont, pour la plupart, été suivies. De plus, les objectifs du Comité ont grandement été atteints et c'est pour cette même raison qu'on mit fin à l'existence du Comité. Équivalents trouvés dans Termium.
