Sub-series consists of investigative documentation created by the Department of Transport's former Aviation Accident Investigation Branch in reference to individual aviation accidents at the level of formal inquiry. Normally, this material is appended to the former DOT central registry subject file block (5002) at the case file level; however, in some instances, the material was so extensive (usually owing to the notoriety of the incident) that it was maintained separately. The records in this particular sub-series refer in each case to a registry file, and consist primarily of reports, evidence, and photographs accumulated in the course of the inquiry. The inquiries in question comprise the major accidents in Canada during the decade of the 1960s including the following: Trans-Canada Air Lines 813, CF-TJN, Ste-Thérèse, Quebec, 29 November 1963 ; Air Canada DC-8, CF-TJM, Ottawa, Ontario, 20 May 1967; Trans-Canada Air Lines ECF-631-12, CF-THM, Montreal, Quebec, 12 June 1961; Trans-Canada Air Lines 307-11, CF-RHV, Glenview Naval Air Station, 11 October 1959 ; Fauvel AV-36 Glider, CF-HRQ, Cowley Airstrip, Alberta, 13 April 1963; and Dart-Herald, CF-NAF, 30 November 1965.
