A Montreal-based firm, Fireside was controlled by John Roman. Roman expanded Fireside's position in the Canadian textile industry by acquiring Exquisite Knitting Mills (Canada) Limited in 1962, and Halifax Corduroy Limited in 1967.
In 1970, Fireside Fabrics built a new plant in Montreal to consolidate the production of corduroy fabric in Canada. Shortly thereafter, Roman sold Fireside Fabrics and its subsidiaries to Dominion Textile. Fireside Fabrics remained an affiliate company of Dominion Textile for five years until its operations were integrated into Dominion Textile's Apparel and Consumer Goods Division.Source:PrivateFormer archival reference no.:MG28-III77 -
