Bruce MacKinnon was born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1961. His art training was received at both Mount Allison University and through the graphic design program at the Nova Scotia School of Art and Design. MacKinnon began cartooning on a part-time basis in 1985 and landed the full-time position of cartoonist for the Halifax Herald in 1988. He is noted for his meticulous graphic style. The recipient of several Atlantic journalism prizes, he has also been twice awarded the National Newspaper Award in both 1992 and 1993. A selection of his drawings were published in "Inklings", Nimbus Publishing, 1990.
