2 maps b&w.Language of material:EnglishAdditional information:General note:The accession consists of two albums of photographs; six loose photograph album pages; and one album containing 224 photographs, diagrams, charts and maps. One album contains 90 photographs taken on the voyage of Nanook II through the Canadian arctic from July 15 to September 7, 1949. The second album contains photographs of boundary markers marking the Alberta/B.C. boundary and the Manitoba/Saskatchewan boundary. The six loose photograph album pages contain 37 photographs which are unidentified. The photographs show scenes of surveying, surveying camps and aboriginal people. Some of the photos are marked with the initials A.M.N. and dated 1911. The third album contains 149 photomechanical prints, 2 maps, 60 charts and diagrams and 13 drawings of instruments. The material in this album is about surveying and the methods of producing topographical maps from photographs. Included are drawings of the instruments used in producing topographical maps from photographs, charts and diagrams of perspective calculations and photographs illustrating the procedure.Note on the state of conservation:Graphic (photo): Some of the photographs are fading and there is no interleaving. One album is very dirty.Custodial history:This material was brought to the National Archives by Irene Vokan and Martin Legault of the Earth Sciences Information Centre (GSC Photo Library).
