The Part II Daily Orders were the basic instrument for compiling statistics on Canadian Expeditionary Force strengths and casualties for the War Office and Canadian authorities ["Part II Orders are one of the most important items which affect the routine of this Office. All entries in records emanate therefrom". RG 9, III-B-3, Vol. 3755, "Memorandum re: Record Office, 1916", p. 228]. Unlike the Daily Orders described elsewhere in this fonds (RG150-1, MIKAN 136595), the Part II, Orders in this series relate only to officers.
The Part II Daily Orders consist of lists produced regularly of officers taken on strength, struck off strength, promoted, demoted, punished, who pay was withheld, decorated, absent, killed, wounded and sick, taken prisoner and missing. The nominal rolls are less informative, consisting simply of lists of officers on strength with the unit on a given date.Additional name(s):Additional information:Source of title:Title is based on the contents of the series.Accruals:No further accruals are expected.Source:GovernmentFormer archival reference no.:RG150-7 -
