Department of Exhibitors : The Department of Exhibitors was organized in 1963 and was mainly responsible for promoting participation in Expo'67 and for ensuring good relations between the Corporation and its participants. To obtain the largest possible number of participants, liaison officers, co-ordinators, and technical missions were dispatched abroad to present the case for participation in Expo'67 to government officials, organizations and firms. Outside of the country, the Expo'67 representatives were assisted by Canadian diplomatic, consular and trade representatives in laying the groundwork for a call by Commissioner General Pierre Dupuy on a head of state, or to ensure follow-up. At the same time the liaison staff, facilitated by regional offices in Halifax, Quebec, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver, contacted hundreds of organizations and firms within Canada and set up meetings and briefings on the site and in all parts of the country to encourage the building of private pavilions or to participate through sponsorship. Once the decision to participate was made, liaison staff maintained constant contact and assisted the participants in conducting its affairs with the Corporation by organizing regular meetings with the Commissioner General and the Committee of Private Exhibitors.
