Scope and content:

Sub-sub-series consists of three letterbooks, one comprising the outgoing registry correspondence for September 1879-August 1880, and two letterbooks containing copies of correspondence, memoranda and reports submitted to the Privy Council Office, 1895 and 1902. Files created by the branch after 1901 often include copies of outgoing correspondence. A large proportion of the outgoing correspondence of the Canal Branch in the form of letterbooks has not survived, particularly for the period 1879-1901.
