Scope and content:Series consists of bound reports for the 1901 to 1967; xerox copies of the French version for 1948-1967 and microfilm copies from 1901 to 1981, of which those from 1967 to 1981 are in both official languages (reels T-1516 and T-1517). These bound Annual Reports of the National Capital Commission and its direct predecessors, the Ottawa Improvement Commission and the Federal District Commission, contains lists of officers and committees, projects, plans, new accomplishments, photographs, and capital and maintenance budgets. Presently the Annual Report is prepared by the Planning, Finance and Procurement Division of the Strategic Planning and Information Management Branch.
Within the cartographic material, architectural and technical drawing media, are the following accessions: RG34M 81203/14 consists of plans for projects prepared for display purposes, for the Confederation Square Development, John B. Parkin Associates, 1962; National Capital Region Plan, Project Planning Associates Limited, 1967; and the NCC Sparks & Wellington Park Study for the Garden of the Provinces. In addition, there are low altitude aerial photos of the region, subdivision maps, and some Greber report material. RG34M 81203/53 consists of material relating to projects such as bridges, buildings, and parkways. The plans are located in rolls #1 to 2600. RG34M 81203-65 also consists of plans relating to bridges, buildings, and parkways. The accession is divided into two parts: an estimated 1500 plans located in rolls #2603 to 3500, for the period 1964 to 1981; and an estimated 300 drawings submitted to the Advisory Committee on Design, organized chronologically from 1967 to 1981. RG34M 83403/2 consists of plans from various sources, in rolls ranging from #1 to #600. The plans are divided into 8 subject categories: buildings (BG), bridges (BR), fountains (F), parkways (P), roadways (R), transformer sites (T), utilities (U), and various (V). RG34M 83403-14 consists of revised drawings of the Confederation Square east bank development truck tunnel and roadway system, stage 1, NCC, Ottawa, prepared by Searle Wilbee Rowland. These drawings show the service roads, paving plans, and utility installations and removals bordering the building of the Dept. of National Defense at the Colonel By Drive-Nicholas Street-Mackenzie King Bridge location. RG34M 1998-0677-8 Surveys and Mapping records consist of three series of maps and photomaps of the National Capital Region: 1) 1:1 250 maps, 2) 1:2 500 maps, 3) 1:5 000 and 1:1 250 photomaps. Each series is accessible through accompanying index maps.

Biography/Administrative history:Canada. National Capital Commission. Strategic Planning and Information Management Branch : The Strategic Planning and Information Management Branch's (SPIM) main functions are to provide corporate-wide strategic and financial advice, as well as the technological tools and expertise that ensure the effective and efficient operation of the NCC. By promoting the efficient and effective delivery of branch services and technological tools, this branch permits the implementation, by executive and operational sectors of the NCC, of the mandate and strategic goals. The scope of the branch's operations includes: strategic and corporate planning; financial management; procurement management; facilities management; material management; technology services; geomatic services; document management; access to information and privacy; and administrative services.
