Sub-series consists of correspondence to and from Canadian and British government departments on subjects of concern or interest to the Canadian Government. At the turn of the twentieth century the basic function of the High Commission was unchanged: it represented the interests of the Canadian government in Great Britain. What had changed was the amount of work, particularly in the area of immigration and trade. In 1904 the High Commission arranged the office's files into a more organized system to meet this increased work load. The records are arranged in the same manner as Series B1a, except that each department was given a file designator.
