Series also includes technical drawings for the Cessna, Lockheed Hudson, Douglas DC-3 and DC-4, Taylorcraft, Globe, Beech, Junkster, Piper and a number of gliders.Additional name(s):Biography/Administrative history:Canadian Air Transportation Administration : With the establishment of the Department of Transport in 1936, the Air Services originally consisted of the Civil Aviation Division, Radio Division and Meteorological Division. There were various administrative reorganizations over the years. In 1960, a restructuring of the Department of Transport left the Air Services administering the Civil Aviation Branch, the Construction Branch, the Telecommunications and Electronics Branch and the Meteorological Branch. The Canadian Air Transportation Administration, as it was redesignated in 1970, regulated air safety; provided and operated airports and all navigational aids; and ensured air safety. In 1985, the Canadian Air Transportation Administration was replaced by the Airports Authority Group and Aviation Group.Additional information:Source of title:Title is based on the contents of the series.Physical description note:RG12M 87803/11: All items are numbered in pencil on the verso. Items #4, 5, 14-17, and 62 are stamped on recto as approved by the Department of Transport Air Services.
Item #5 is accompanied by one sheet giving radio maximum current consumption for Douglas DC-4. Item #28 is accompanied by a two page outline of general notes about Junkster I and its drawings. Item #60 is accompanied by one page: Work report re the Pratt Read CF-ZCZ.Note on the state of conservation:RG12M 87803/11: Items #1, 6-9, 13, 18, 24-27, and 60-61 are hole punched. Items #28, 30-32, 34-36, 38-56, and 62 are water stained.Custodial history:Technical drawings within RG12M 87803-11 were originally accessioned in Government Archives Division (86-7-382) and then transferred in April 1987. Drawings were removed from aircraft registration files.Arrangement note:The records in this series have a clear provenance link to the Canadian Air Transportation Administration and its predecessors.
