Sub-series consists of records which were maintained for reference and historical purposes and are a broad collection of statistics, nominal rolls and lists which relate to Canada and the First World War. Most prevalent are records describing the nominal lists and casualties of particular units. There are also documents relating to senior commanders, order of battle, officers serving in the Royal Air Force and commemorative registers of Canadian soldiers listed on the Vimy Memorial in France.

Custodial history:

One of the responsibilities of the Army Historical Section was to answer historical questions relating to the Canada's military heritage. As such part of this sub-series was accumulated from records created overseas with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, while the rest was created in Canada following the First World War in order to respond to public inquiries.
