Thompson's "At the Canadian Jubilee", 1927, and "On the Old Ontario Strand"; John Philip Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever!", 1897; and Lionel Baxter's "Valse June", 1914, and "Valse Elaine", 1915.
Collection also consists of artistic material including 5 souvenir photo-albums containing greeting cards, postcards, miscellaneous pamphlets, souvenir photo books, newspaper clippings, and sheet music; and 11 newspaper clippings from the DAILY MAIL AND EMPIRE, THE CITIZEN, THE JOURNAL, RENFREW JOURNAL, RENFREW MERCURY, THE TRIBUNE, PONTIAC ADVANCE, CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER, CLEVELAND PRESS, and CLEVELAND LEADER, 1904-1931. The Clevelend newspapers deal with the great Autumn Gale of 1905 in which many Canadian ships were lost at sea. Some pages are missing.
In addition, collection includes photographic material as follows: photographic souvenir guides entitled: Welcome to Ottawa, Royal Visit 1901, Two Soos, Picturesque Niagara, Niagara in Summer & Winter, Buffalo, Duluth, and Montreal in half tone; photographs by photographers Micklethwaite, Gleason, John Boyd, R.R. Swallows, and Galbraith that appeared in the Weekly Guide and Canada Farmer, Toronto, 1907; photograph of Deputy Minister W.L. MacKenzie King; and a group portrait of Bobby Kerr, Claude Pearce, and Tom Longboat.
Also included in collection are objects consisting of small flags representing the provinces of Canada, Canadian Universities, sports, astrological signs, various countries, and associations including the Montréal Amateur Athletic Association. In addition, collection includes trophy ribbons representing various military ranks, Canadian batallions, and regiments. Also included are tobacco silks representing various countries and animals, originally included in cigarette packages to attract the new market of female smokers.Provenance:Biography/Administrative history:Crowder, Norman Kenneth, 1926- : Norman Kenneth Crowder, experienced researcher, lecturer, instructor and writer, was born in 1926. He received a B.A. Honours with the "Medal in English" from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario; an M.A. (Institute of Canadian Studies) from Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario; and a Diploma in Management Sciences and M.B.A. from the University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Ontario. His professional experience included 35 years in management and executive positions in Canadian Armed Forces and Public Service of Canada. He retired from the federal Treasury Board Secretariat as a director. Crowder also taught genealogy courses as part of the Elderhostel program at the Ottawa YMCA and YWCA, and also at the Ottawa Family History Centre sponsored jointly by the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa and Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society.
