It depicts part of the parish of Ste. Agathe, south of present-day Winnipeg. This map shows dimensions and acreage of lots, land under cultivation, woodlands, prairie and meadowlands with additional information concerning land ownership, sales, etc. with some notes dating to 1900.
As is typical of Métis settlements, the land is divided into long and narrow river lots. The French-speaking and Roman Catholic parish of Ste. Agathe developed in the mid-1800s on the stretch of the Red River between the southern edge of the parish of St. Norbert and the US border. This Métis community was formerly known as Pointe à Grouette and Petite Pointe à Saline.
