Fonds also contain an architectural drawing of a canadian cheese factory.Provenance:Additional name(s):Biography/Administrative history:Allen, George B., 1922-1988 : George B. Allen was born in 1922, and educated at Ottawa Technical High School. Graduating in 1942, he enlisted in the army and trained as a radar technician. He went overseas in 1944, and was discharged from the army in 1946. Thereafter, he enrolled at the University of Toronto, School of Architecture, and graduated in 1952. During the summers between 1946 and 1951, Allen worked as a clerk in the Department of Finance and as a draughtsman for the Department of Public Works and for Veteran's Affairs. In 1952 he joined the Engineering Division, Veteran's Land Act and Veteran's Affairs, where he was responsible for creating the working drawings for low-cost housing, perspectives for descriptive folders, and details for farm buildings and equipment. He transferred to the Architectural Services Division of Northern Affairs and Natural Resources on 22 November 1965. There he was responsible for northern housing and was promoted to Chief, Building Services Division of Indian Affairs and Northern Development in 1974. He retired from the Civil Service 29 December 1978. He died 11 June 1988.
