Fonds consists of textual records and graphic material divided into two series as follows: Correspondence, brochure, chart, ledger, copies of signatures, letters to John Gillies (1876), Maria Harmon (1883), W. Mackay about selling timber logs in Quebec Harbour (1863); and Photographs.
Photographs consist of unidentified portraits and relatives of the family of Arnold Gillies Muirhead, Austin Bain and Mrs. Austin Bain Gillies ( née Jessie McCann), David, Alfred, Elisabeth (later Mrs. Patterson) and Elsie Gillies (later Mrs. W.R. Caldwell), relatives of John Gillies. Most of the negatives were taken ca. 1901-1912 and are showing members of the family at home, doing summer activities, picnics, fishing, boating, golfing, canoe competitions, equestrian and car rides in Packard 1912. Muirhead, Arnold Gillies, 1903-2007 : Arnold Gillies Muirhead was a chemical engineer, a vice-president, and a director of Gillies Bros. Lumbering Company Limited of Carleton Place, Ont. Mr. Muirhead died in Vancouver in 2007.
