Canada. Dept. of Industry. Steering Committee on the Establishment of a Standards Council of Canada : Established in 1966, the Steering Committee's goals were to provide recommendations on what steps should be taken to provide for the development and promotion of standards, both on the national and international level. This primarily focused on the establishment of a national standards body.

The committee consisted of members of the Department of Industry (DOI), the Department of Trade and Commerce (DTC), the Department of Defence Production (DDP) as well as representation from the Canadian Standards Association.

The committee was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Industry and included members from the Office of the Industrial Research Adviser.
