General Note:

The prints in this album document Canadian army activities in Northwest Europe in the days before and after Victory in Europe (VE) Day, 8 May 1945, in Holland and Germany. Subjects photographed include personnel and equipment, captured enemy equipment, surrendering German forces, Canadian army and Allied military leadership, including the link up of Field Marshal Montgomery's 2nd British Army with Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky's Russian forces at Wismar on the Baltic, civilians, heavily damaged cities and towns, including the damaged German naval port and ships at Wilhelmshaven and Bremerhaven, VE day celebrations and parades.
