The diary consists of handwritten and typed entries by mountaineer and surveyor Frederick Lambart, written during his participation in the Mount Logan expedition of 1925. The diary includes almost daily entries recording the voyage to and preparation for the expedition, as well as the period immediately following the team's descent when Lambart was in hospital and travelling home to Ottawa. The diary forms one part of a larger diary written by Logan during most of his adult life.

The Mount Logan Expedition was the first recorded ascent of Canada's highest mountain, and took place from May to July 1925. A team of Canadian and American climbers, including Lambart, were sponsored by the Canadian Alpine Club and the American Alpine Club to take on the challenge. They reached the summit on June 22, 1925, but the descent was in many ways more arduous than the ascent, and the team spent a total 44 days on the glaciers and snow, as well as weeks travelling to and from the base of the mountain., Diary entries for 1925 Mount Logan expedition by H.F.
