Each page shows several Army Numerical series photographs. These depict Canadian operations in Sicily following the Allied invasion of Sicily on 9 July 1943. The photographs are arranged numerically and (roughly) chronologically. The range of Army Numerical photographs in this album covers numbers 22542 to 23813, with gaps. This print album was originally used for DND photo reference purposes and may show censor marks, crop marks, and other notations.Additional information:General note:The prints in this album document Canadian army activities from 3 to 30 August following the invasion of Sicily (Operation Husky) on 9 Jul 1943. On 7 August the Canadian Units were drawn into reserve. Photographed subjects include personnel and equipment, Canadian army and Allied military leadership, the liberation of Catania, crashed and captured aircraft, destroyed villages, civilians, religious services, dental treatment, evacuation of wounded, sporting events, and routine equipment maintenance.Related material:The b&w safety negatives for photographs found in this album (numbers 22542 to 23813) can be found in CANADA.
