File consists of one album containing 87 pages of contact sheets. Each page shows several Army Numerical series photographs. These depict the 1st Canadian Army's activities in May and June 1943, just prior to the invasion of Sicily (Operation Husky) in July 1943, as well as operations during the invasion. The photographs are arranged numerically and (roughly) chronologically. The range of Army numerical photographs in this album cover item numbers 18371 to 22531, with gaps. This print album was originally used for DND photo reference purposes and may show censor marks, crop marks, and other notations.

General Note:

The prints in this album document Canadian army training activities prior to the invasion of Sicily in May and June 1943, and operations during the first three weeks of the invasion from 9-31 July 1943. The photographs were shot by No. 1 Photography Section. Subjects photographed included personnel and equipment, infantry, tank and artillery training exercises, personnel and vehicle formations, Canadian Army and Allied leadership, liberations of Sicilian villages, German prisoners of war, operations, medical care, embarkations for the Middle East from Glasgow, ship life, and camp life.
