This accession consists of Permanent force, Militia, First World War and Second World War personnel files that were created and maintained by the Department of Militia and Defence and were transferred to the newly created Department of National Defence (DND) in 1923. DND continued to add material to these files until after the Second World War. In the 1950s, DND microfilmed these files and the reels became known as "Job 84". The files are arranged alphabetically by the surname of the officer.
