Accession consists of records created and/or maintained by Marine Group (Coast Guard) at Headquarters. Included are files related to the following subjects: Buoy Depots, Search and Rescue, Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) sites, Aids to Navigation, Public Communications (boat safety), Buoys, Vessel Traffic Services, Federal Provincial Partnership, Research and Development, Flags - House & Special, Representations - Marine Associations, Waterways, Dredging and Sounding, Marine : International Relations, United States, International Maritime Organization (IMO), Ship Building, Shipping Control, Coasting Trade, Freight Commodities and Movements, Coast Guard Fleet, Fleet Maintenance, Steamship Inspection Regulation.
It is noted that the files are labeled with the prefix AW-. This prefix is an unfamiliar one for Department of Transport records. Where Coast Guard operated within Transport until 95/96 under the prefix AM (A=Headquarters, M=Marine (CCG)), it is likely the case the AW is a new prefix assigned to CCG Headquarters records after CCG was transferred to DFO.
