General Note:

Accession consists of central registry files of the Fisheries and Marine Service (FMS) of Environment Canada (EC). Many of the records predate the 1979 creation of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) and are arranged within the classification system used by EC at that time.

Records document operational functions of FMS, spanning file blocks 5304 to 5977 and covering all aspects of FMS activities on fisheries, oceanography, hydrography, and the development/maintenance of port facilities for commercial fishing vessels and recreational boating.
