General Note:

Accession consists of operational and administrative records created and/or maintained by the Parks Canada Agency's Western Canada Service Centre located in Calgary, Alberta. Subjects include, but are not limited to, legal inquiries and strategic planning. Records predominantly date from 1985-1995.

Since 2010, archival records are held at the Central Service Centre in Winnipeg.

Custodial history:

Beginning in 1984, the Canadian Parks Service Branch of the Department of the Environment was responsible for creating and maintaining these records. In 1993, the Department of Heritage assumed responsibility for Canadian Parks Service and, in 1998, Parks Canada became a separate agency within the Department of Canadian Heritage.
