This series illustrates the activities of Paul Edgar Martin as the Prime Minister of Canada, as well as the activities of the staff of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), primarily from December 2003 to February 2006. The series documents the various aspects of the position of Prime Minister, from simple routine issues of protocol and administration, to the management of the most complex government affairs. The series includes information about managing PMO staff and the Prime Minister's official residence, the relationship between the PMO and the Privy Council Office (PCO), and the dynamics of a minority government. The series also documents the issues and events that marked Paul Martin's term as Prime Minister, such as the Gomery Commission and the sponsorship scandal, the 10-year Plan to Strengthen Health Care, the Kelowna Accord, the New Deal for Cities and Communities, the Maher Arar affair, same-sex marriage, the conflict in Darfour, and major international meetings (G8, APEC, Summits of the Americas) in which Paul Martin participated.
