The Office of the Auditor General has the responsibility for the examination of expenditures by the Government of Canada. The Auditor General reports directly to Parliament on the financial accounts of government departments and agencies through the publication of an annual report. The Office of the Auditor General also maintains seven regional offices across Canada to audit the expenditures of the district offices of various departments., The records in this accession consist of registry files created in the Vancouver Regional Office and relate to the audit function of the OAG for federal departments and agencies such as the Yukon Territorial Government (including the Yukon Housing Corporation, Yukon Liquor Corporation, and Yukon Workers Compensation Board), the Department of National Defence (CFB Esquimalt), Health and Welfare, Secretary of State, Supply and Services, and Indian and Northern Affairs. Each department or agency has been assigned a file block number which may then be broken down into a number of categories (correspondence, year-end audit, interim audit, financial statements, program audits, etc.). Files may contain memoranda, financial data, reports, reference notes, relevant directives, etc.
