This series consists of correspondence, notes, memoranda, reports, press material, briefs, agendas, minutes and so on. Man files are from the period of Murray as Leader of the Government in the Senate, the last years of power of the Progressive Conservative Party. There is a significant cluster of files on the 1979 Progressive Conservative victory in the 1979 general federal election. Following are files on the Caribbean Development Bank, and then on External Affairs and Murray speeches, as on Turner and Clark, and the Trudeau government.
The come files on the General federal Election of 1980, including correspondence with Joe Clark, and a large run on Murray's role as PC Campaign Chairman from 1982 onwards. These files deal with policy formulation, media activity, research, logistics and organization and communications, in preparation for the general Federal Election of 1984. There are records of meetings at various party levels, especially executive meetings, and of the work of committees, especially in the areas of priorities and communications. There are also some files on party election activity in Metro Toronto and on the provincial level.
The files generally reflect the management of the election campaign structure, with informational data banks, candidate selection and activities, personnel training and some brochures on the technical aspects of campaigning.
