THESE RECORDS CONSIST OF TREASURY BOARD FILES ON WAR CLAIMS INTERIM COMPENSATION AND INCLUDE TREASURY BOARD MINUTES RELATING TO THESE CLAIMS. SOME CONCERN DAMAGES TO PROPERTIES OF CANADIAN CITIZENS WORKING AS CIVILIANS IN EUROPE FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA (E.G. ASSISTANT-ARCHIVIST IN PARIS WHOSE HOUSE WAS DAMAGED DURING THE WAR)., THESE CLAIMS WERE USUALLY SUBMITTED TO THE WAR CLAIMS BRANCH OFFICE OF THE CUSTODIAN. THIS BRANCH REPORTED TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE. THE CLAIMS WERE SUBSEQUENTLY SENT TO THE TREASURY BOARD FOR PAYMENT APPROVAL.
