Fonds consists of records created and/or maintained by the National Library and its predecessors. Researchers are cautioned that unprocessed records in other media are not reflected in this description.

Architectural drawings: RG138M 90142 is comprised of 12 preliminary sketches of elevations and floor plans, 13 drawings of floor plans and mezzanines, 14 revised drawings of floor plans and mezzanines by Mathers & Haldenby Architects for the Library and Archives Canada building on 395 Wellington Street. Accession also includes 16 drawings for the National Library-Les Terrasses site and 1 drawing of the National Library-Multilingual Services area by Consortium Design Int. RG138M 912017 consists of 37 drawings of engraved glass panels prepared by John Hutton to decorate the lobbies of the first three floors of the Library and Archives building at 395 Wellington. These full scale drawings were the initial step in producing the glass panels. The drawings were completed between 1965 and 1967. One drawing (muse Erato) is a full scale hand drawn replica of the original, done by John Hutton in 1973 to complete the set (now in Graphic Art R1223 volumes 2 to 6 (items 1 to 37).

Architectural drawings: RG138M 90142 transferred from the Office of the Associate national Librarian through Records Services in March 1991. 37 Drawings for RG138M 912017 were purchased by the National Library from Mr. John Hutton in 1973 and transferred from Literary Manuscripts of the National Library in October 1991, Now in 2017 they are Graphic Art: R1223 vol. 2-6 items 1-37. The photograph negatives were transferred from Publication & Marketing Services of the National Library.

The audio-visual material was transferred from the Music Division of the National Library, Publication & Marketing Services of the National Library, and the National Librarian's Office.
