Item is a large leather album. It contains 40 folio pages (including the back and front cover); however, many pages have been removed. The images within the album include (but are not limited to), plants, still life, landscape, architecture and animals. The earliest dated image in the album dates from 1861; the latest from 1899. Inside the front cover a typed note indicates that this is 'The Property of the Marquees of Aberdeen, removed from Haddo House, Aberdeen. The drawings in the Album and the subsequent lots which have been removed from it were collected by Rachel Emily Shaw Lefevre who married Sir Arthur Hamilton Gordon, later the 1st Lord Stanmore. He was Lieut Governor of New Brunswick, 1861-66, Governor of Trinidad 1866-70, Fiji 1875-80 and Ceylon 1883-90 and was the youngest son of the 4th Earl of Aberdeen., The majority of the drawings in the album are by Lady Stanmore herself (R.S.L., R.H.G or Lady Gordon; others are by her sisters Mary, Jane Georgina Lady Ryan, Madeleine and Emily, her Gordon relatives and members of her husband's staff.
