Accession consists of additional records of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers, comprising the following series: UE National Office: Central Correspondence Files, 1943-1989 (volumes 25 to 131 and 145 to 162), consisting of files in annual blocks relating to a wide variety of topics dealt with by the National Office (a portion of this series [files for 1943-1955] is for the most part also available on microfilm reels M-2336 to M-2364; see Finding Aid 906, part 1, for more information); National Executive Board, District Council, and Convention Minutes, 1951-1992 (volumes 138 to 141), including related reports discussed at the meetings; UE Briefs and Printed Materials, 1948-1985 (volumes 141 to 144 and 280), consisting of master chronological files of briefs to governments and other public statements of the union, as well as ephemeral items such as leaflets and dues cards (item-level lists are included in most files); Other Labour Organizations, ca. 1936-1970s (volumes 11 to 24, 177 to 179, and 214), including files on the UE's rival (the International Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers, and the United Auto Workers, as well as collected newsletters and organizing literature from the Steel Workers Organizing Committee and other new industrial unions, ca. 1936-1940; Companies Files, ca. 1941-1991 (volumes 162 to 176, 180 to 205, 208 to 213, and 215 to 277), consisting of correspondence, reports, memoranda, collective agreements, conciliation and negotiations papers, certification documents, collected inmformation on employers, and other material documenting the union's relations with employers organized by the UE (including major employers such as Canadian General Electric, Camco, and Westinghouse), as well as union councils and joint boards on major employers; Publicity and Conventions (volumes 8 to 10); Local Union Constitutions (volumes 278 to 279).
