General Note:

The records must be treated by Preservation Treatment owing to the nature in which they are maintained in their present container. The records must be unfolded, flattened and placed in acid-free folders. The accession consists of records created by the Nova Scotia Patent Office before Confederation. The 114 patents are numbered in simplistic fashion, beginning with No. 3 in 1835 and ending with No. 230 in 1869. The patents vary in subject matter from washing machines to ointments, but one that is particularly of interest is one referring to the "Acme" Forbes Skate (#171 Nova Scotia Patent, 11 June 1866). Please note that this includes a drawing of the blade.
