General Note:

These architectural drawings were received from the Parks Canada office in Calgary.

The drawings are structural, electrical, mechanical and various other plans of the atomic bomb shelter built near Penhold, Alberta in 1964 during the Cold War to protect federal and provincial government leaders in the event of nuclear war. It was demolished in 2001.

Custodial history:

Parks Canada office in Calgary, Alberta contacted the Archives in 2001 asking if we would like the plans for the Penhold Bunker which was being demolished. The Archives agreed to accept the plans as a direct transfer.
