The sub-series consists of incoming and copies of outgoing correspondence and memoranda, agenda, notes, drafts, speeches and clippings. Early files in the sub-series document some of the background of the theatre whose artistic directorship Kareda was assuming in 1982, and include information on finances, contracts and board meetings. Subsequent files include documentation on the workings of the (Six) Playwrights Unit established by Kareda to promote closer and more intensive work with novice playwrights. Files on the awarding of the Dora Mavor Moore Awards in 1984 contain information on the behind-the-scenes operation of arts awards. The files of memoranda from Mallory (Gilbert) include a wide range of information on the daily operations of the Tarragon Theatre, and include details on theatre finances and staff, and the intricacies of casting and dealing with playwrights and other arts professionals. Files on the Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council and Toronto Arts Committee document the grant-making process, and include recommendations, applications and financial information. The files relating to the Elinore & Lou Siminovitch Prize document the initial awarding of this valuable prize: as chair of the first jury to choose a recipient, Kareda documented much of the planning stages. Also included in the sub-series are files of press clippings related to several seasons' productions.
