Sub-series consists of material similar to that found in the General Correspondence sub-series (RG6-A-1, MIKAN 196942, R174-26-2-E); however, these documents lack the registry number that would permit their integration into that sub-series. Volumes 212-215 contain general files dealing with such subjects as ordnance lands, census, the Intercolonial Railway, copyright and the Privy Council, 1868-1965. Volume 215 also contains letters from François-Joseph Audet and Lt-Col. Alphonse Audet in 1897 relating to the establishment of archives for government records. Volume 216 contains copies of telegrams sent from the Under Secretary of State to such departments as Crown Lands, Secretary of State in Quebec, Indian Branch, Minister of Justice and the Post Office. Subjects include convicts, land surrenders, patents, appointments and the incorporation of companies, 1862-1917. Volumes 217-231 contain petitions submitted to the Governor General with regard to the Intercolonial Railway, the Pacific Scandal, the case of Sarazin vs Banque de Saint-Hyacinthe and Jesuits' Estates, 1868-1889. Volumes 232-236 contain Companies Branch-Securities Information Clearing Office reports, legislation and general files regarding the dissemination of information about securities, 1907-1951. Volumes 714-740 contain petitions, general correspondence, departmental recommendations and Privy Council decisions, 1878-1937 related to the Canada Temperance Act.
